Rubicon 2011 Let’s go!
It’s Sunday afternoon, the last chance for me to take a deep breath and relax, before the contest finally starts.
3 days of great experience are ahead of me. Together with the team, I worked 3 months towards this contest. Within this time I learned a lot and had to cross my personal Rubicon several times. We spend a lot of time in the office, with telephone calls, Exel, Outlook, fun and “Barbra Streisand”. Now, it’s almost happening and the contest is just around the corner: In less than 20 hours the first students will face the first challenge to cross the Rubicon, landing in Frankfurt.
On this last day of rest, I am feeling a combination of unlimited anticipation and the uncertainty that shows itself in a variety of different and new facets. I have all sorts of questions on my mind. A lot of factors play an important role. Some I can control and others not. I keep asking myself the important questions but also some that seem trite: Will the weather be favourable? Do I have enough Business Outfits for the next days? Will I get enough sleep? Will all participants get to Iserlohn safely? Can we fulfil their expectations? Will the Rubicon Contest 2011 outreach last year‘s contest? Did I do my best to reach this goal? And last but not least: Will the Rubicon Contest 2011 proceed as frictionless and well organized as we wish and hope?
To the best of one’s knowledge, I can answer “Yes!” to all of these questions, so why worry? A certain amount of uncertainty is unavoidable. Therefore, the pleasant anticipation prevails: The anticipation of an unforgettable event, interesting teams, great ideas and students from all over the world who work together on solution for the future. Last but not least, I am happy to meet personable, international people within the next days. This is what we have been working for and what I’m looking forward to.
Having this said, dear participants: On behalf of our Organizational team, have a good trip to Iserlohn! We all look forward to finally meet you! Rubicon 2011, Let’s go!
