Dulse is a native marine plant of the West Coast of Canada. It is representative of our team because of our strong roots in this exceptional part of British Columbia. Vancouverites enjoy the outdoors and are extremely conscious of their impact on their surroundings and going green has been a prominent aspect of business in recent years. We would like the opportunity to learn more about sustainability in a business context and bring our newfound knowledge back to our fellow students at Sauder and carry this knowledge throughout our careers. These ethics have been incorporated in all of our lives through unique personal experiences and values.

Sarah Gale is a second year student with an intended major in marketing. She has a passion for entrepreneurship and being involved in her community through volunteer work. Born in Vancouver, Sarah currently resides in Langley, a small town outside of Vancouver where the environment plays a consequential role in the economy. She also competes in horseback riding (Three Day Eventing), which keeps her outdoors year round. She is an individual who strives for self-development and thrives in interactive communities.

Before attending UBC, Kiara took time away from her studies in Canada, to pursue her interest in travel to Europe, South America, and Thailand. She also arranged to participate at a volunteer project in Peru, where she mentored underprivileged children. It was an unsettling perspective of the poverty in South America and the disparate gap of wealth; she noticed how the economic/social status of the locals correlated to the exploitation of commodity exports and destruction of the region due to polluting practices. This spurred an interest to be conscious of ways to improve situations such as these on both a social and environmental scale.

Emma Smith is an active individual in Vancouver's animal rights and environmental protection community. She volunteers regularly for organizations such as Earthsave, a non-profit organization that stresses the importance of sustainable food choices, and applies her principals of environmental protection to her everyday life. Emma would like to incorporate her beliefs into her future career in business and is interested in specializing in Transportation and Logistics with the options of International Business and Sustainability. During her third year, Emma hopes to study these subjects in Germany and would one day like to live and work there.

Sara Keng is a dynamic individual with a passion for entrepreneurship and leadership. This is evident in her academic career as she was the Tennis Team Captain and Judo Team Vice-Captain in High School. Thus, she is eager to be at the forefront of integrating environmental sustainability with business practices as she believes conservation to be inevitable for the future. This pursuit is compounded by the fact that the environment greatly influences her other loves in food and travel. Sara's active involvement in the community, in the form of tutoring and mentorship roles, also equips her with the necessary skills to raise awareness for such a cause. Our individual aspirations each contribute a unique perspective to our team as a whole, and together we hope to create a plan for sustainability that will benefit the future of business.
