Competition 2009

9th March 2009

No competition on this day. There will be an introduction to Rubicon Contest 2009 and its topics.

10th March 2009

Today, the teams will take part in a business simulation. In this simulation, students have to manage a company which produces goods (e.g. tents). They have to make decisions which influence the production, research & development, outcome of production, selling process, market share and many more. The simulation targets “hard” decision facts. They make it possible to choose the best eight teams. This decision is based upon on the companies’ turnover. So the teams participate in one simulated market. To do their decisions, the teams will have time of half an hour, and then write their figures of the next period down and our organisation team will enter all team decisions into the computer. It is recommended to students to have some experience in cost accounting and relation between different company departments. The best eight teams will move on to the second round the following day. Those teams will be announced at the famous Rubicon party in the evening.

11th March 2009

Today the teams will compete in a case study with an emphasis on green‐business management. They will have several hours time to analyse provided information packs, prepare a presentation and present their key facts to an audience of professionals, academics and young professionals of businesses. Teams qualifiying in a direct competion for the last round will be competing in a second and final case study. Among those four contestant teams the jury will choose this year's winner who will be awarded at the concluding gala dinner.
